The Terror Pigeon and outrageously high expectations.

Tomorrow we do our album release at silent barn. It's going to be really, really special. I hope you can come.

Then I'm going to some meetings and then I'm going to go to a big tag sale in new jersey where we get our best costumes. Then I'm going back to rochester for a while. Summer is shaping up nice but more on that later. I'll write something big and long about important tour was too! soon!

I love this.

The Terror Pigeon and being rock stars trashin' hotels

Okay so here's some things:
1) you can buy it! That's the cheapest place I think. But! if you're going to pay for it then you should probably buy the real deal (an actual CD or Vinyl) when it comes out in may. The packaging is sick! The vinyl is going to be so sleek and sexy. Check the discography!! You can pre-order the physical here!

business over. Here's real stuff:

So we're three bands on tour forever. On the road non-stop playing shows, sleeping on floors, eating bombass chile cheeseburgers and still not really knowing how to talk to girls. It has a real pace to it of just going, going, going. Things that interrupt this pace, like going camping in Guadeloupe national park, a place where you can see more stars then I've ever seen in my life, are really, really important. This revelation comes to me on the foot heels of one of the more wild nights of the tour. We got a hotel room from the venue, and so naturally James and Sam got completely naked, had a slap war, took a bath and then decided to hump the shit out of me. I of course ran and thus began the most high-stakes game of hide and seek I've ever had. After sprinting past the majority of the hotel staff naked, james presented his ass hole to a bouncer. When we were escorted back to our room Dan had been stabbed. I don't know what any of this means, but it feels important enough to document, just in case they decide to make it a national holiday.

Here are some other important things that happened in the past month that'd I'd like to remember:
In North Carolina we played with a rad dude named "Human Pippi Armstrong." His music is like Dan Deacon meets Puddle of Mudd and is that awesome. In South Carolina we met two people named Kelly and Todd. They're maybe the funniest couple I've ever met. I can't give you any one liners to prove this as it's all in kelly's voice. Equines are an awesome band we played with in Orlando. We stayed with an awesome dude named Norell who took awesome photos of us. Murfreesboro, TN is still one of the coolest places on earth. Little Rock, AR brought it so fucking hard. All those dudes on schiller st. fucking rule. Baby Huey rocks. SXSW was amazing. Blake, Kagan and Mike who put us up are so fucking chill and fun. I got to see AWK, GWAR, Smokey Robinson and Alphabeat, Hole and Snoop Dog in one week. I snuck into Perez Hiltons SXSW party and decided that I really want to do more sneaking into shows. I hear Lady Gaga is playing in July... Then we went camping and it ruled. Then we went to New Mexico and Dan (promoter) was so fucking cool and friendly and his whole crew was nice. Last night we played the hotel and no liked us and then the naked stabbing. It was really fun though.

This tour is wonderful. I'm afraid of everything. I don't know if I can / will be allowed to do this forever, but I'm having a lot of fun. Every day I get to meet new people, people doing rad exciting things. I get to flash in and out of people's lives, catching just a glimpse of who they are and what they do. This can be lonely, not really getting to know these people that well, but in every one I meet I can tell that they're making it happen for themselves. Having happy lives and having fun. Getting to see a million, billion glimpses of that is like getting to see all the stars I could see in New Mexico for just one night, as opposed to being stuck up in rochester where I could only see 10% of those stars under a cloudy, polluted sky.

The Terror Pigeon and Bible passages printed on bags of cheese doodles...

Tour update: tour rules! We're in a mall in Durham NC right now! We played a sweet show for some folks at a place called the pinhook last night. They gave us pizza. We stayed with an awesome couple named Dave and Liz who are in a band that sings 18th century sea shanty songs!! The live band is sounding really, really good. Alex has made an awesome addition to the sound.

Shows we've played so far:
New Paltz: killer crowd, super low ceilings, the walls were sweating and everyone lost their voice.
Princeton: guess how many drugs people at Princeton do?! THIS MANY!
Philadelphia: Shakes hometown show. All their friends are super fun, love dancing, and are out of control sexy.
Baltimore: no one came. Last time we played when the cops shut us down as way cooler!
D.C.: Fun crowd, killer burgers. We got to have a sleep over with my friend sara who I haven't really seen since high school!!!
Durham: still cool!

tonight we travel to charlotte! I can't wait to hit florida! I can't wait to see blastoids again in Tenessee! SXSW is gonna rule! I always go back and forth between being super stressed and tired and super empowered and joyus on the road, this is definetly the later. Let's hope it stays that way!

I've reached philadelphia and am rehearsing with the shakes! I've only been here about 36 hours and already I've had the privilege of enjoying an incredible house show, a fantastic chinese new years dinner with four rad cats and a morning walk to the river. We haven't really done that much practicing though...

Getting on it!! This tour is going to end the recession!

No it won't. But shit, are we gonna shred these songs...

February 6th, 2010

most things are great as tour approaches. I'm working at a chocolate store for a week to offset the epic poorness of not having a real job. I've written 18,000 songs since my arrival in Rochester 2.5 weeks ago. 17,999 of them are great. Album number 2 will burn down houses.

I leave you with the brilliant words of Joe Matoske "Live it up before you die it up."

New stuff: lyrics, wounds and drawings!!!!

the terror pigeon and bi-monthly updates.

Christmas and New Years were both great!! Like, the best ones I've had of them. I think ever. Christmas was hanging out with my family and actually having fun and thinking they're cool and then talking to two awesome x-girlfriends back to back! New years was a totally out of control marathon show that Joe Ahearn (showpaper guy) and I did that started with dinosaurs at 10 PM and ended with pancakes at 9 AM. There's a lot more to that last one especially but I'm shooting for brevity (you'll notice I skipped all of december!) Good times.

SO! what's on the agenda for terror pigeon?

1) ALBUM!!! it's done! It's coming out! It kicks ass! 10 tracks of ultimate fury, coming out sometime in April. This is all the music we've been playing for the past year in existence finally! I kind of updated the discography with more details, but I can't upload pictures really right now so some of the album artwork is only half up!! (UPDATE: I did!!!)

2) Tour. the shakes, Jesse Cooper Levy and terror pigeon are going on a 2.2 month long tour. We're going to florida and texas and mexico and oregon and maine and all the things that connect those things to each other. I'm immensely excited. I have to buy a car and learn to drive it!!! I have a giant list of things to build.

oh I just remembered that I should mention that we went on tour with blastoids for four days starting new years and it was incredible. They're amazing people and it's just a bonus that their band kicks ass.

3) A bunch of other cool shit is happening too. Friends Data Dog are covering fast-forward regrets! There's more! I'll write sooon!

LOVE!

November 29th, 2009!
the terror pigeon and a 14 hour bus ride.

so instead we went to some hippie town called byron bay. It's really nice. We're staying at a nice hostel / campground / old bus / bob marley / iguana / community dinner; it feels like college exploded all over the place. Nostaligic.

It's schoolies? which is when you graduate and instead of the movie american pie happening to you you are in australia and you go surfing with your friends. So it's like us and 1,800,000 seventeen year olds making out on a beach.

November 25th, 2009!

what?! that was a whole month?!

so we just got to Australia. It takes a really long time to get here. This means you get to watch a lot of movies! I watched a bunch, most notable of these was Angels and Demons which I watched with Jesse. In the first ten minutes of the film the Pope dies, 4 cardinals are kidnapped, the large colidron holder is turned on, and someone steals anti-matter. So it kicks ass. And! has a surprisingly beautiful CGI black hole explosion thing at the end...

so what happened this month:
we went to Italy. Specifically, Venice and the Dolomites. Venice was cool and what it's supposed to be, the Dolomites, which get less play, but are cooler should be discussed.

They are I guess, what the Alps are called if they're in Italy. We took a long train ride, and then a bus ride, and then were at a giant house built by our friend Sara's dad on a big snowy mountain. The thing about having an awesome sara for a friend, is that in addition to her stellar coordinating abilities, she also has a dad who is really fucking good at building houses in cool places. I of course, have no pictures I can put here but, basically it was like being in the movie the Shining, with a slightly smaller house (still huge) and instead of everyone dying you climb mountains and eat pasta. James, Dan and I went climbing the day before we left, got really high, and then it was getting dark and cold so we had to not freeze to death so we basically got to do what those polar bears in the old coca cola commercials that air around christmas time do, where you slide down a giant mountain on your ass and go way too fast and think you're going to die. It was great!

Then we went to vienna and played a rockin' show! We had an amazing driver named David who was out of this world helpful! He took us to an old theme park where we bumper cared! We also got into a real car crash!! Not his fault!!

Then we went to florida! We played a killer show in Orlando! I got vaulted (I think) into the air by a rad frat dude! Then we went to miami to play some diesel stuff. Here's what important about that:
1) we ate breakfast next to pauly shore
2) we went on an airboat ride and hung out with gators.
3) Santigold headlined the diesel show: she has awesome, really fucking good dancers. Also, that girl can sing! I wondered how all that hootin' and howlerin' would sound live! It sounded great!

So then we went back to NY for 3 days.
day 1) recorded kick ass song with kyle. It has awesome drums.
day 2) Eskalators EP release show. Using a big thing we've had kickin' around to blanket the audience! It has big lights / is really fun
day 3) Friendsgiving. Spectacular holiday celebration with friends we haven't seen in way too long. Ate 'til we were sick! Spontaneous kitchen oldies dance party! Album cover photo shoot! Beyond fun.

So now we're down under! no concrete opinions developed yet. I'm kinda cityed out, possibilities of going to a rainforest next week. This is immensely exciting.

Older shite!
